L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows Review & Swatches

I am so impressed with the new L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows that I had to recommend them to others - these are not only the best drugstore eye shadows I've ever tried, but they are some of the best eyeshadows I have tried, period. They are better than many high-end eye shadows!

L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows in Eternal Sunshine (L) and Bronzed Taupe (R)

These eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented; one swipe is smooth and opaque. Their texture is beautiful - it is so smooth it is almost a cream shadow. They blend easily into the skin with little to no fallout, and they stay on for hours. Certainly not for 24 hours like the package says, but they still look fresh after 6 hours, which is good for me!

See how pretty! This was only one swipe I think - maybe two - impressive!

Had it not been for Jessica of Getting Cheeky's review, I would have never considered buying these shadows. I have had so many negative experiences with drugstore shadows that I had decided they were a waste of money. Most are chalky, flaky, and have little pigmentation. Jessica compared the shadows to the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense shadows and said they were almost the same, and my curiosity was instantly piqued. The Armani Eyes to Kill shadows are something I've been eyeing for a long time, but could never bring myself to splurge on. I've been particularly interested in the beautiful bronze and gold shades in the Armani line.

The next time I was in the drugstore, I headed over to the L'Oreal display to check out the Infallible eye shadows. There are 12 colors in the range, and I opted for the Eternal Sunshine (a gold), and Bronzed Taupe (which looked bronzey in the store light).

When I got home, I was disappointed that the "Bronzed Taupe" is much more taupe than bronze. The Eternal Sunshine is a beautiful gold and will be perfect for summer.

I discovered after swatching the Bronzed Taupe that it resembles several other shadows I already own. It is a bit darker, and it is now my favorite dark taupe:

Bronzed Taupe compared to similar MAC, Urban Decay, and Cover Girl shadows. The L'Oreal shadow was by far the best quality. The Cover Girl was absolutely the worst quality.

I'm tempted to go back and purchase the sage green and purple shades. I hope they come out with a true bronze soon!

If you have been wanting a new good quality eyeshadow but didn't want to pay $20+ for a high-end brand, definitely check out these new L'Oreal Infallible eye shadows. At only $7 to $8 (depending on where you buy it), they are a great deal, especially since stores often offer a "buy one, get one free/half off" deal!

I have no affiliation with L'Oreal and purchased these eye shadows myself.

  1. Thanks for the review!! Paula's Choice team recently did a show called "Splurge Vs. Steal" comparing dept. store eyeshadows to drugstore copies. They talked about how Chanel's Illusion to Ombre luminious eyeshadows are great, but are a dupe for L'Oreal's Infallible eyeshadows (and they said L'Oreal's shades are better!) Now with your review, I'm going to have to try them out! :)

  2. I hadn't seen them compared to the Chanel ones - is that the creamy Chanel shadows? I'm not usually impressed with many drugstore items, but I think recently brands like L'Oreal & Revlon have been launching some great products. I'm really liking the Revlon lip butter lipsticks, which are supposed to be like Chanel Rouge Coco Shines or Burberry Lip Mists. Thanks for the comment, Nadia! :)

    1. Hey Ashley! So I went ahead and bought the two colors you reviewed, can't wait to try them out!(will update you when I do!) And I haven't tried the Chanel eyeshadows...most of my eyeshadows are drugstore or Bare Escentuals (do you like BE eyeshadows). I really do like Almay's eyeshadow palettes as they are easy for someone like me to use, and actually, I've found some great palettes by Wet n' Wild! And Paula's Choice just reviewed W&W lipsticks and said they were amazing!!

I have sooo many eyeshadows now I think it's getting time to do some spring cleaning! Ooh, maybe you could write a blog about what items are your HGs and what items you've been disappointed with and could get rid of? That would be such a fun post :)

    2. Hey Nadia! Let me know what you think about the eyeshadows! That's a great idea for a post. The blog is on a bit of a break (you may have noticed no new posts) because I am working on adding tabs to the top and organizing it better...hopefully by next week I'll be able to post again!

    3. I will definitely let you know! I'm actually giving myself a one-month break from mascara and eyeshadow, can you believe it? My eyelashes have become so short and sparse, so I'm trying to build them back up again...but I'll definitely try them this weekend and let you know! :)
